FAQ

What is the process to see a Psychiatrist?

Oqea Cares incorporating Salvado offers a specialist service; we require a referral from your general practitioner or another health professional.

Once the referral has been received by our reception team (via email or fax) and accepted by one of the doctors, you will be contacted to book an initial consultation.

You will receive confirmation of this booking from our reception team via your preferred electronic notification method.

What is the process to see a psychologist?

At Oqea Cares, we offer appointments with clinical psychologists, registered psychologists, and provisional psychologists. Medicare rebates apply when using a referral from a GP or psychiatrist to see a clinical psychologist or registered psychologist. Referrals are not needed for provisional psychologists, and Medicare rebates do not apply. Appointment prices are lower to account for this.

We offer face-to-face consultations in our offices in Subiaco and telehealth services via our Oqea platform. To book an appointment or enquire about psychology services, please contact us on psychology@oqeacares.au.

What is the process to see a physiotherapist?

Our physiotherapy and rehabilitation service offers a comprehensive assessment, a personalised action plan to help you understand your condition and what you can do to improve it, and ongoing support to implement the actions - all supported through your Oqea app.

Our experienced physiotherapist Dr Kevin Wernli (PhD) can support your health goals, be that pain rehabilitation, improved function, the prevention of physical deterioration, or the recovery from injuries.

We can offer face-to-face consultations, as well as telehealth appointments.

Referrals are not required for private fee-paying services. Clients with private health insurance services may wish to speak with their insurer about eligibility for a rebate for services provided by a physiotherapist. Oqea Cares accepts the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans (formally Enhanced Primary Care plan) with an appropriate referral from a GP.

To book an appointment or enquire about physiotherapy services, please contact us on psychology@oqeacares.au.

What do I need to bring with me to my psychiatry appointment?

•  A list of your current medications.
•  Any previous investigations or tests that may be helpful to your clinician or health care provider.
•  Optional: a support person - this may be a friend, family member, or partner.

I have my concerns about my privacy, is my information safe?

Your privacy is important to us. We understand how important it is to protect your personal information. Our services are strictly confidential and use comprehensive data security practices.

What does this cost?

Oqea Cares incorporating Salvado is a private billing practice, and a fee may be payable on the day of the consultation.

Each clinician provides an individual service; we ask that you contact our reception team to obtain an estimate for the services you seek. We offer a range of payment options for your convenience.

Fees for psychology services vary depending on the length of the session and the registration type and experience of the practitioner. For further information on our fee structure for specific clinicians or services, please email: psychology@oqeacares.au.

Medicare rebates for services may be available with a GP referral or Mental Health Care Plan, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician referral.

If you are approved for care by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), then all billing will be directed to DVA. (Please note: DVA and current serving defence members require current referrals for all consultation billing).

If your clinical costs have been approved by an Insurance Agency/ Worker’s Compensation (such as ICWA), then all billing will be directed accordingly. We ask that you provide the necessary details to our reception team in advance.

Can I claim any money back?

All consultations have associated item numbers that Medicare can rebate. The rebate ranges from 30%-45% of the total fee. Don't hesitate to contact our reception team for more accurate rebate information.

It is essential to obtain this rebate that you have a valid referral.

Following payment of your consultation, our reception team can claim a rebate from Medicare for you and provide you with a receipt.

This rebate will be directed into the bank account that Medicare has nominated. Please get in touch with Medicare (13 21 50) if you want to change your bank account details.

What if I cannot make my consultation or forget to attend?

If you need to reschedule, please call our reception team as soon as possible, and we can organise a more suitable session time.

A fee may be incurred if it is less than 48 hours before your appointment or if you must remember to attend your scheduled consultation. Unfortunately, DVA or Insurance Agencies cover no rebate for late cancellations or missed appointments.
